Cambodian Investor Seeks Justice Over Alleged Fraud by YY Capital Chairman
(Phnom Penh) โ A shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has appealed to the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia for intervention in a case involving Yamada Taihei, the companyโs Chairman, who faces serious allegations of financial misconduct.
The investor claims that Yamada Taihei, a Japanese national, abused his authority to misappropriate funds and manipulate company operations for personal gain. Reports indicate that he allegedly inflated real estate purchase prices, resulting in an estimated USD 4 million being diverted to himself and his associates.
The complaint details additional allegations, including unauthorized business decisions, the creation of fictitious transactions exceeding USD 7 million, and the use of prominent corporate names to deceive investors. Yamada Taihei is also accused of forging documents and transferring funds through multiple shell companies, including a bank account abroad in the name of his wife, Ye Jun.
Investigations suggest that he established a network of companies in Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan, often appointing nominees to hide his direct involvement while maintaining full control over financial transactions.
In Cambodia, authorities have already initiated at least two criminal cases against Yamada Taihei, freezing several assets and bank accounts. Meanwhile, investigations are reportedly underway in multiple countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, focusing on alleged embezzlement, money laundering, and other financial crimes.
Through his letters to the Ministry of Justice, the investor urges Cambodian courts to ensure a transparent investigation and uphold the rule of law. Concerns were raised about potential interference by influential figures that could compromise justice, intimidate witnesses, or allow the accused to evade accountability.
